A Filtered Water Bottle Is Healthier and Saves Money Too
Thursday, April 16th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedEveryone knows that they should drink eight glasses of water every day. And it’s important that this water be as pure as possible. You probably don’t worry about the quality of the water you drink at home or at work. Many workplaces have a water cooler with pure, filtered water available. In the home, a number of people use residential water filters to eliminate harmful particles from their water.
But for people who are moving around a lot through the day, it isn’t so easy to get filtered water. That’s why you need a portable water bottle with a filter. All you do is fill up the bottle with water from the tap. The filter takes out the chlorine, lead and much of the bacteria in just seconds.
Portable water bottle filters are typically found in sporting goods, camping and RV supply stores. On the outside they appear the same as a typical reusable water bottle, but inside they feature a water filtering device. These sturdy bottles can be used over and over. A filtered water bottle will last for many years with a periodic filter change being the only ongoing cost.
There are several advantages to using a bottle with a portable water filter. They can filter out chemicals, impurities and numerous kinds of bacteria. They’re easy to take with you wherever you go because they’re portable and lightweight. They generally cost around $15, as well as the cost of replacement filters. So they’re an economical alternative to bottled water that you purchase in the store.
Still, you might think that you can’t beat the convenience of bottled water. In reality, bottled water is no more convenient that using a reusable filter water bottle. The truth is that it’s probably just more available. You’ll see it everywhere you go, from convenience stores and vending machines to takeout restaurants.
But there’s a high price to pay for this convenience. It usually costs at least twice the price you’d pay at the supermarket.
Another consideration is that your bottle of water might not be as pure and healthy as you think. It’s been shown that not all companies that produce bottled water meet the requirements regarding safe levels of contaminants. In one study, more than 15 percent of brands tested contained significantly higher levels of bacteria than allowable under national standards. About one fifth of the products tested indicated that there were potentially toxic chemicals present.
When you examine the facts, a well made portable water bottle filter is most likely your best choice for pure water on the go. You can take it with you wherever you go and refill it when necessary. You can be more confident of its ability to filter out the impurities in your water. Plus, you’ll spend less money. What more could you ask?
