This article is written by a woman to let guys have a clue how to shop for a lady.
When a man enters a shopping mall he will get all freaked out. Women become super jazzed and cherish the thrill of the hunt. A man has fonder thoughts of genital mutilation than looking for a gift. It’s a rather castrating experience for them. It’s like reading all the books in a law library!
At this point men, just chill out and grab a cup of organic coffee and read on!
Females, if you want something, write it down on a list, and stick the list in his wallet. Keep it simple! Make sure to list the price and places to buy the stuff. Make it abundantly clear to your man where the list is. Make it easy on your dude. Tell him your special colors and dress size.
If you don’t have a list to go on, I have five options that should work for about 80% of women. If you are thinking you’ll take the easy way out and buy gift cards – Don’t! Gift cards should only be given to your lady IF she requests them! Also, clothing is completely off limits unless we have sent you in for a specific item, in a specific color and specific size. We have to try on an item and see how it, and the two sizes above and below, fit. Trust me, you don’t know us that well.
The first sure-fire gift is a bouquet of flowers that tells us you have planned dinner out complete with babysitting (for those that have kids) and coffee after. An extravagant meal at a fine restaurant will get you major brownie points. Make sure you think through every detail. You may want to consider reserving a room at a fancy hotel.
One thing woman like is pampering! We love to receive exotic lotions, scented bath salts and a high end bath robe. A high end bath robe can be expensive so it’s best to shop around.
If none of these ideas appeal to you read on. Think sweet! Chocolate and gourmet coffee are your friend. Most women can be wooed with splendid chocolates and gourmet coffee. It is a gift that will last every morning (at least for a while) that spoils her senses. An excellent option for the girl that loves her coffee is a coffee of the month club membership from a gourmet coffee roaster. If you don’t know what she likes, then purchase a few different coffees to let her try. Stick with the finest gourmet coffees and chocolates. Don’t get canned coffee and think you’ll receive kudos.
Another option is an expensive pen and leather bound planner or journal. No one likes to be without a pen, or be stuck with one that only works intermittently. Even more frustrating is to hunt for a pen, then find one that doesn’t work. If you want to go for the cheap pens good choices are Pentel R.S.V.P, and Pilot G-2. They are relatively inexpensive and work until the ink is gone. All planners serve the same purpose, so get one that fits her schedule and interests (you can find everything from pretty pink leather to all recycled components and every thing in between).
For the green thumb gal, then a potted plant is a nice choice. Potted flowers are an attractive alternative to cut flowers. They make a pretty decoration and most importantly will remind her that you are thinking of her. (It is like a bouquet that keeps on growing).
Men, don’t be afraid to ask a women what she wants. Every woman knows what she wants! Make sure she doesn’t request something too expensive! Any of the above mentioned ideas may be catered to fit almost any women at any point in her life. Women want to be pampered and adored. We want gifts that reflect our style, and not yours. If all else fails, then a framed picture of the two of you will be enough to get you through this holiday.
